Bay City may not be very big in size, but it is home to two of Tillamook County's larger employers. McRae and Sons, Inc., has been manufacturing specialty wood products here for more than 40 years. Its 42 employees are in production year round.
Tillamook Country Smoker located in Bay City in 1976. Its 300 employees manufacture jerky, pepperoni, and snack products.
Bay City commands a gorgeous view of Tillamook Bay and has a selection of art galleries, antique stores and restaurants.
One of the most prominent buildings in town is the Bay City United Methodist Church, which began construction in 1892 and was dedicated a year later. Though there has been some reconstruction of the starkly simple edifice, it looks pretty much as it did 100 years ago. The steeple was re-built after 130 mile winds damaged it during a severe storm in 2007.
Another notable structure is the Bay City Arts Center, which is home to an array of events, classes and community gatherings.
